Now in Florida! After raising poodles on the west coast for 20 years, I have moved to Florida. While in California, my red poodles were filmed for the TV show, Too Cute (because they are!) on the Animal Planet. Look them up under their episode named Fuzzy Pets and Tater Tots. Poodles are my passion! I breed for soundness, beauty and brains. Colors are secondary, but we do specialize in deep red. We also have apricot, black, cream, and the very rare phantom and brindle. I have shown some of my red-colored poodles in AKC-recognized conformation classes, and the judges loved them. I raise them all within my home under the strictest sanitary conditions. They are not kept in cages or crates, but are allowed to exercise within the house and they have the run of my large yard in the country but only under my supervision. With my 25-year medical background I understand the importance of health down to the cellular level. My top priorities are the diet and teeth of this small breed. I do not allow corn into their diet as it is high on the glycemic index, and I feel it can instigate sudden drops in blood sugar, which is deadly in young puppies. Many dogs have allergic symptoms to corn, which go unnoticed. They can be as subtle as fatigue to overt oozing hot spots on the dog's belly or feet that cause him to itch and eventually compromise his immune system. Also, no dog should have bad breath! This means they are harboring bacteria in there. I will show you how to clean your dog's teeth. You may not need to have your dog's teeth cleaned regularly by the vet as they put them to sleep to do such a simple procedure. Your vet will notice and know that you are optimizing your poodle's immune system. I also love to share my grooming tips to help you feel more confident and help your poodle feel more comfortable. I am aware of the few health weaknesses of this breed, including the eyes, weak knees, and especially hypoglycemia in the very small ones, which is actually a liver-related problem few people or vets are fully aware of. My studs are tested for PRA (progressive retinal atrophy) and none carry the disease. I do not knowingly breed any dog who shows any health weaknesses.
